Knox County, TN (November 14, 2025) – Deputies are searching for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run that occurred on Tuesday afternoon, November 11, in Knox County. The Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to the 3400 block of Maryville Pike just after 12:34 p.m. following reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim lying in the roadway. First responders confirmed the pedestrian had died from their injuries before help could arrive. The driver who hit the victim did not stay at the scene and fled before law enforcement could identify the vehicle. Authorities have not released details about the victim's identity as they continue with the notification of family members.

The sheriff's office has asked the public for assistance in locating the suspect vehicle and driver. Investigators are reviewing evidence, speaking with witnesses, and checking nearby surveillance footage to uncover more information about the collision.

We extend our deepest condolences to those affected by this tragic loss.

Pedestrian Accidents in East Tennessee

Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run on Maryville Pike

Pedestrian Accidents in Knox County and throughout Tennessee often lead to devastating injuries, especially when they involve hit-and-run drivers. With increasing traffic on major routes, pedestrians face heightened risks from speeding, distracted driving, and drivers who fail to yield. When a driver leaves the scene after causing harm, the consequences become even more painful for families seeking justice.

Hit-and-run crashes often happen for several reasons. Drivers may flee because they fear legal trouble, lack insurance, drive under the influence, or panic after the collision. Unfortunately, leaving the scene delays lifesaving aid for the victim and complicates efforts to identify the responsible driver.

Pedestrian collisions commonly result in severe or fatal injuries. A person on foot has no protection from the force of a moving vehicle. Even a low-speed impact can cause traumatic injuries, while a high-speed strike can lead to immediate and life-threatening harm. Families may face overwhelming grief, medical bills, funeral expenses, and a long legal process.

That is why many families turn to a skilled wrongful death attorney for guidance. An experienced lawyer can help by:

  • Working with investigators to gather reports, photos, and witness statements
  • Preserving evidence such as surveillance footage or vehicle debris
  • Contacting insurance companies and handling all communication
  • Seeking compensation for medical expenses, funeral costs, lost income, and emotional suffering

A compassionate legal team can help families understand their rights under Tennessee law and take action while they focus on healing. The right attorney can also coordinate with law enforcement as the investigation continues, ensuring the driver is held accountable.
