Antioch, TN (December 13, 2025) – Metro Nashville authorities are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding a school bus crash that resulted in injuries to several students early Friday morning in the Antioch area. The collision occurred during morning transport hours and involved a school bus and one other vehicle.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the crash took place on December 12 along Bell Road, near Benzing Road. A school bus operated by Knowledge Academy was traveling through the area while transporting three students when it became involved in a collision with another vehicle. The incident prompted an emergency response due to concerns for the students on board.
Police officials reported that all three students complained of minor aches and pains following the crash. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene to assess the situation and evaluate those involved. Two of the students were transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt for additional medical evaluation and treatment. The third student was examined at the scene and did not require hospital transport.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported by the driver or occupants of the other vehicle involved in the crash. Investigators also noted that the school bus sustained minor damage, primarily affecting the front right portion of the vehicle. No further details regarding the cause of the collision were immediately released, and officers indicated that the investigation remains ongoing.
Metro Nashville Police officers remained on scene for several hours as they documented evidence, coordinated with emergency responders, and managed traffic conditions in the area. Authorities reported that the roadway was fully cleared and traffic returned to normal by approximately 8:30 a.m.
Our best wishes are with the students who were injured, and we hope they make a swift and complete recovery.
School Bus Accidents and Injury Claims in Tennessee
Crashes involving school buses often raise heightened safety concerns due to the presence of children and the size of the vehicles involved. Even when injuries are initially described as minor, medical professionals frequently emphasize the importance of follow-up care, as some symptoms may not become apparent until hours or days after a collision.
Traffic collisions involving buses may occur for a variety of reasons, including congested roadways, distracted driving, failure to yield, or sudden stops. In multi-vehicle incidents where investigators have not yet determined the exact cause, injuries may result from abrupt movement within the bus or from the force of impact.
Children involved in school bus crashes may experience a range of injuries, including:
-
Soft tissue injuries such as bruises, sprains, and muscle strain
-
Neck and back injuries caused by sudden jolts
-
Head injuries, including concussions
-
Cuts or abrasions from contact with interior surfaces
-
Emotional distress related to the traumatic event
When injuries occur, families may have the option to pursue compensation based on the findings of the investigation and the specific circumstances surrounding the crash. Injury claims are generally intended to address both the financial and personal losses associated with an accident and may involve one or more parties found to be responsible. Compensation in these cases may cover medical expenses such as emergency treatment, hospitalization, and follow-up care, as well as costs related to rehabilitation, therapy, or ongoing medical needs.
Families may also seek recovery for out-of-pocket expenses, including transportation to medical appointments or necessary medical supplies. In addition, claims may account for lost income if a parent or guardian is required to miss work to care for an injured child, along with compensation for physical pain and the disruption the injuries cause to daily life.
Each case is evaluated based on its specific facts, including the severity of injuries and available evidence. Acting promptly can help preserve important information and ensure that families are informed of their options as the investigation progresses.
