Posted by Local Accidents | Feb 16, 2026 | 0 Comments

Blountville, TN (February 16, 2026) – Two people, including a juvenile, suffered injuries on Saturday, February 14, in a crash at a busy Blountville intersection. The collision occurred around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 394 and Highway 11W.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a Dodge Ram 1500 traveled north on Highway 11W when the driver failed to stop at a red light and entered the intersection.

A Toyota Rav4 attempted to make a left turn onto SR 394 from Highway 11W at the same time. The Dodge struck the Toyota inside the intersection. The 54-year-old man driving the Dodge was the only person inside his vehicle.

The Toyota carried a 37-year-old man and a 17-year-old teen. Both occupants suffered injuries in the crash. Emergency crews responded and provided medical assistance.

Authorities have not released details about the severity of the injuries. The Tennessee Highway Patrol stated that charges are pending against the driver of the Dodge Ram. Investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Our thoughts are with those injured, and we wish them a steady recovery.

What Is Tennessee's Statute of Limitations for Filing a Car Accident Claim?

Two Injured in Crash at SR 394 & Hwy 11W

In Tennessee, the statute of limitations for filing a personal injury claim after a car accident is one year from the date of the crash. This means an injured person must file a lawsuit within one year or risk losing the right to seek compensation. Acting within this deadline is critical under Tennessee law.

Tennessee follows one of the shortest filing deadlines in the country for personal injury cases. The one-year clock usually starts on the date the accident occurs. If a person misses that deadline, a court can dismiss the case, even if injuries remain serious.

For property damage claims, the deadline may differ, but injury claims follow the one-year rule in most situations.

Certain exceptions may apply in limited cases. For example, when a minor suffers injuries, different timing rules can affect how long that person has to take legal action. However, these exceptions can be complex, and waiting too long can create challenges with evidence, witness statements, and insurance negotiations.

Medical records, crash reports, and insurance communications all play a key role during this period. A car accident attorney can review these documents and explain how Tennessee's statute of limitations applies to a specific situation. Legal guidance can also help ensure that required paperwork is filed on time and in the proper court.
