Chattanooga, TN – Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Hwy 153 in 5400 Blk

Chattanooga, TN (November 24, 2025) – A deadly two-vehicle crash on Highway 153 claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Saturday, November 22, in Chattanooga. The Chattanooga Police Department responded around 8:30 p.m. to the 5400 block of Highway 153 after reports of a multi-vehicle collision. Officers arrived and found a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a Lexus sport utility vehicle involved in a serious impact.

Police said the 36-year-old male motorcyclist traveled south on Highway 153. At the same time, a 22-year-old woman drove a Lexus RX3 north on the highway. Investigators believe the Lexus driver turned left in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the Lexus, and the force of the crash threw the rider from his bike.

Hamilton County emergency medical crews rushed to the scene and provided immediate care. They transported the rider to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities have not released his name. The Lexus driver remained at the scene, and police did not report injuries to her.

The Chattanooga Police Department Traffic and Driving Under the Influence Unit took over the investigation. That team handles crashes involving serious injury or death. Police continue to investigate the crash.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the rider's loved ones as they face this sudden loss.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Hwy 153 in 5400 Blk

Motorcycle crashes on major roads often lead to devastating outcomes. Motorcyclists do not have the same physical protection as people in cars. Even with a helmet and protective gear, a rider can suffer fatal injuries when a vehicle turns into their path. Left-turn collisions are among the most dangerous scenarios for motorcyclists because they happen quickly and leave little time to brake or avoid impact.

Drivers may misjudge a motorcycle's speed or distance, especially at night. Some motorists also fail to scan fully before turning. When that happens, the rider faces a direct hit without a safe escape route.

Families of riders often feel shock and grief after a fatal motorcycle crash. They also face confusing questions about fault, insurance coverage, and what steps to take next.

Tennessee law may allow surviving relatives to pursue a wrongful death claim when negligence causes a fatal crash. These claims can help families seek financial support for funeral costs, final medical expenses, and the income the victim would have provided. They may also reflect the loss of companionship and guidance that the family now lives without.

Motorcycle cases require careful investigation. Police reports help, but families may need more evidence to show how the crash occurred. A wrongful death lawyer can gather witness statements, review any available video, and consult crash reconstruction experts.

An attorney can also handle calls from insurance companies and protect the family from pressure to accept a quick settlement before all facts are clear. That support can make a real difference while loved ones focus on grieving and healing.
