Chattanooga, TN (November 4, 2025) – Emergency crews responded on Tuesday, November 4, to a hit-and-run crash involving a city pickup truck and a white Cadillac at the intersection of Stanfield Street and Ocoee Street in Chattanooga. The collision was reported around 5:19 a.m., according to local authorities.
Police said the Cadillac collided with the city vehicle and then fled the scene before officers arrived. A person inside the city truck complained of neck and back pain following the impact. Paramedics treated the injured individual at the scene before taking them to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
Officers are now working to identify and locate the driver of the white Cadillac involved in the crash. The Chattanooga Police Department continues to gather witness statements and review surveillance footage from nearby businesses to aid their investigation.
Traffic in the area slowed temporarily as emergency crews cleared debris and investigated the incident. The intersection has since reopened.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim, and we hope for a quick and complete recovery.
Hit-and-Run Accidents in Tennessee
Hit-and-run collisions are among the most frustrating and dangerous types of car accidents in Tennessee. When drivers leave the scene instead of taking responsibility, victims are often left with injuries, medical bills, and uncertainty about who will cover their losses. These incidents can cause serious harm, both physically and financially, especially when injuries involve the neck or back.
Common reasons for hit-and-run crashes include:
- Distracted or reckless driving: Drivers who aren't paying attention often panic after causing a crash.
- Driving under the influence: Impaired drivers may flee to avoid arrest or criminal charges.
- Lack of insurance: Uninsured motorists sometimes run from the scene to escape financial liability.
- Fear or panic: Some drivers simply make the wrong decision in the moment and drive away.
When a hit-and-run occurs, victims can still pursue compensation through uninsured motorist coverage or by holding the responsible driver accountable once identified. A personal injury attorney can help gather evidence, communicate with insurance companies, and file the necessary claims to recover damages.
Victims of hit-and-run accidents may recover compensation for medical expenses and rehabilitation, lost income during recovery, vehicle repairs or replacement, and the pain and suffering caused by the crash. If the hit-and-run driver is found, additional penalties such as fines, license suspension, and criminal charges may apply.
