Chattanooga, TN – Injuries Reported in Car Crash on Hwy 153

Tennessee is no stranger to traffic collisions, with thousands of injury crashes reported annually across the state. From city streets to major highways, these incidents often lead to serious harm. In 2023, the Tennessee Department of Safety recorded over 25,000 injury crashes, many of which involved driver inattention, speed, or impairment. Whether it's a minor collision or a serious wreck, the physical and emotional aftermath can be significant.

When a crash occurs, there are several common injuries victims may face. Here's a look at a few of them:

  • Whiplash and Neck Injuries: Sudden stops or rear-end impacts often cause soft tissue injuries in the neck. Pain can linger for weeks or even months, impacting a person's daily life.
  • Broken Bones: Arms, ribs, legs, and facial bones are commonly fractured in auto collisions. These injuries often require surgery and extended recovery time.
  • Concussions and Head Trauma: Even with airbags, drivers and passengers can suffer head injuries. These can lead to memory problems, headaches, or long-term cognitive challenges.
  • Back and Spinal Injuries: Herniated discs and spinal trauma can lead to chronic pain or mobility issues. In more severe cases, paralysis can occur.
  • Internal Injuries: Damage to organs may not be visible right away but can be life-threatening. Quick medical attention is critical in these cases.
