Chattanooga, TN (October 20, 2025) – A three-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck, a Subaru SUV, and a white pickup truck caused injuries on Sunday, October 19, along Interstate 24 Westbound near the 4th Street exit in downtown Chattanooga.
According to the Chattanooga Police Department, the collision occurred around 1:02 p.m. near Station Street. Officers arrived to find all three vehicles on the right shoulder with visible damage. Emergency medical crews treated the injured at the scene and transported several people to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
Investigators believe traffic congestion and sudden lane changes may have contributed to the crash. The semi-truck driver cooperated with police, and crews worked quickly to clear debris and reopen lanes to prevent further backups. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved or the extent of the injuries.
The Chattanooga Police Department's Traffic Division continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Accidents in Tennessee
Multi-vehicle accidents involving large commercial vehicles like semi-trucks often result in serious or life-threatening injuries due to their size and weight. High-traffic areas are particularly dangerous because of merging lanes, tight spaces, and heavy weekend traffic. A crash involving multiple vehicles can quickly turn chaotic, especially when a truck is involved.
These kinds of accidents can cause significant damage, not only to vehicles but also to the people inside them. Victims often suffer from back injuries, broken bones, concussions, and other trauma that may require long-term medical care.
When an accident involves a commercial truck, multiple parties—such as the truck driver, the trucking company, or even cargo loaders—could share liability depending on the circumstances.
Multi-vehicle accidents often occur when drivers follow too closely, make sudden lane changes, or fail to react in time to slowed traffic. Other common causes include distracted driving, speeding, poor weather conditions, and limited visibility. Chain-reaction crashes can also happen when one vehicle stops abruptly, and others cannot brake quickly enough to avoid impact.
After a serious truck crash, victims should take immediate steps to protect their health and legal rights:
- Seek medical attention immediately, even if injuries seem minor.
- Report the accident to the police and ensure an official report is filed.
- Gather photos and witness information from the scene.
- Contact an experienced car accident attorney who can investigate the crash and pursue compensation.
