Is It Normal to Feel Pain or Dizziness Days After a Car Accident in Tennessee?

Multiple Injuries Reported in Crash Near East Brainerd Rd

Yes, it is normal to experience pain or dizziness days after a Tennessee car accident, even if you didn't feel any immediate symptoms. Many injuries, such as whiplash, concussions, or soft tissue damage, may not show signs right away. It's common for pain or discomfort to intensify in the hours or days following the crash as your body reacts to the trauma.

Pain from injuries like muscle strains or sprains may appear after the adrenaline from the accident wears off. These injuries can cause stiffness, soreness, and restricted movement in the neck, back, or limbs. Whiplash, a common injury in car accidents, occurs when the neck is jerked forward and backward suddenly. The symptoms of whiplash, including neck pain and dizziness, can worsen in the following days.

Dizziness or lightheadedness can also be a sign of a concussion or other head injuries. Sometimes, these symptoms develop slowly, making it difficult to connect them with the accident right away. Headaches, nausea, and trouble focusing can also occur, so it's important to monitor your symptoms and seek medical attention if they persist or worsen.

Even if your injuries feel minor at first, it's important to seek medical evaluation. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent long-term problems and ensure that you receive the care you need. A doctor can help identify underlying issues like spinal injuries or brain trauma that might not be immediately apparent.

Under Tennessee law, it's important to seek medical attention as soon as you notice any symptoms, even if they seem minor. Tennessee operates under a comparative fault system, which means you can still recover damages even if you were partially responsible for the accident.

However, if you wait too long to get checked or file a claim, it could hurt your case. Tennessee also has a statute of limitations for personal injury claims, which is generally one year from the date of the accident. If you don't take action within that time frame, you may lose the opportunity to pursue compensation for your injuries.

Consulting with a car accident lawyer can help you understand how to navigate the claims process and ensure that you meet all legal deadlines. An experienced attorney can guide you through the insurance claims process, deal with insurance companies on your behalf, and help you understand your rights under Tennessee law.
