Chattanooga, TN (October 30, 2025) – A devastating collision on North Moore Road left two people dead on Wednesday afternoon, October 29, and resulted in serious criminal charges against a driver accused of driving under the influence.

According to the Chattanooga Police Department, the crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. near the 600 block of North Moore Road. Investigators said a 28-year-old man driving an Infiniti QX60 was traveling north when a Hyundai Tucson turned left onto the roadway from Golfview Drive. The Infiniti struck the Tucson, pushing both vehicles onto the southbound side of the road.

Emergency responders arrived to find both vehicles heavily damaged and the occupants of the Hyundai critically injured. Paramedics transported the 54-year-old male driver and the 55-year-old female passenger to a nearby hospital, where they later died from their injuries.

Police arrested the Infiniti driver, identified as Tai-Rique Floyd, after determining he was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Officers booked Floyd into the Hamilton County Jail and charged him with two counts of vehicular homicide by intoxication, DUI, and multiple traffic violations.

Authorities closed the roadway for several hours as crash reconstruction teams gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses. 

The Chattanooga Police Department continues to investigate the fatal collision.
