Motorcycle Accidents in Tennessee

Motorcycle crashes frequently result in catastrophic or fatal outcomes due to the limited protection riders have compared to those inside enclosed vehicles. The recent incident in Dickson County underscores the severe risks motorcyclists face when other drivers fail to yield or make unsafe maneuvers on roadways such as Highway 46.

Across Tennessee, motorcyclists remain among the most vulnerable groups of roadway users. According to state data, a significant number of motorcycle fatalities each year involve collisions with larger vehicles during turns or lane changes. Common causes of motorcycle crashes include:

  • Failure to yield the right of way

  • Distracted or inattentive driving

  • Excessive speed or unsafe lane changes

  • Impaired or fatigued driving

Even when riders wear helmets and other protective gear, the force of impact in collisions with larger vehicles often leads to traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord damage, and fatal internal trauma.

Families who lose loved ones in motorcycle accidents face not only emotional pain but also unexpected financial burdens, including funeral costs and loss of income. When another driver's negligence or failure to follow traffic laws contributes to a fatal collision, surviving family members may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim to seek compensation for these losses.
