Dunlap, TN (December 4, 2025) - A serious two-vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon, December 2, injured one driver in Dunlap. The Dunlap Fire Department responded around 4:20 p.m. to a collision on Highway 111 southbound, just above the scenic overlook. Early reports said two trucks crashed and left heavy wreckage in the travel lanes.
Firefighters arrived to find one driver trapped inside a damaged truck. Crews worked fast to stabilize the vehicle and protect the injured driver. They used rescue tools to remove the driver's door and cut away part of the cab roof. That step allowed them to reach the driver safely and pull them out without causing more harm.
Puckett EMS took over medical care once firefighters freed the driver. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene and rushed them to Erlanger Chattanooga for hospital care. Officials described the injuries as serious. They did not release the driver's name or condition. The other truck's driver did not appear to suffer injuries of the same level, though officers have not shared full medical details.
The crash blocked both southbound lanes for a period of time. Emergency vehicles, tow trucks, and debris filled the roadway while crews worked. The Tennessee Highway Patrol led the investigation at the scene.
Investigators are still piecing together what caused the collision.
We wish both drivers a full recovery after this serious collision.
Truck Accidents in Tennessee
Trucks often use routes to move freight through the region. When a crash happens on these kinds of roadways, the results can be severe. Large trucks carry heavy weights and need longer distances to stop. If a driver loses control, the force of impact can crush smaller vehicles or trap occupants inside a cab.
Truck crashes also tend to create complex investigations. Police may review driver logs, vehicle maintenance records, speed data, and witness statements. They may also look at weather, road design, or construction activity.
Because these cases involve commercial vehicles, more than one party may share responsibility, such as a trucking company, a maintenance provider, or a parts manufacturer.
If you are hurt in a serious truck collision, taking the right steps early can protect your health and your claim. Helpful actions include:
- Get medical care right away, even if the pain seems mild. Injuries often worsen after adrenaline fades.
- Follow your treatment plan and attend follow-up visits. Consistent records help show the true impact of the crash.
- Ask how to obtain the official crash report. That document can confirm key details about the wreck.
- Save photos, medical bills, and repair estimates. These items support the cost of your recovery.
- Avoid giving a recorded statement to an insurer before you understand your rights. Quick calls often aim to limit payouts.
In many truck accidents, victims can seek compensation for emergency care, hospital stays, therapy, lost wages, and pain. If injuries cause long-term limits, a claim may also include future medical needs and reduced earning ability. A truck accident lawyer can gather evidence, speak with experts, and handle insurance negotiations so you can focus on healing.
