Posted by Local Accidents | Mar 14, 2025 | 0 Comments

Hamilton Co., TN (March 14, 2025) – Emergency crews responded to a chaotic scene on Interstate 75 South early on Thursday morning, after a vehicle fire and two multi-car crashes shut down multiple lanes near the Scenic Overlook at the Hamilton County line.

Authorities received reports of the incidents shortly after 5 a.m. on March 13. Due to the crashes and fire, only the left lane remained open, leading to significant traffic congestion that stretched back to Cleveland. Tennessee Department of Transportation officials confirmed that two separate multi-vehicle wrecks occurred in the affected area. EMS arrived on the scene to evaluate those injured and transport them to nearby hospitals for treatment. At this time, the cause of the crashes and fire remains under investigation by local authorities. Further updates will be provided as more details become available.

We hope those injured in this wreck make a timely recovery.

Car Accidents in Tennessee

Hamilton Co., TN – Multi-Vehicle Wrecks on I-75 Cause Injuries

Tennessee sees thousands of car accidents each year, many of which result in injuries and significant traffic disruptions. According to state data, interstate collisions are among the most common due to high speeds and heavy traffic flow. In 2023 alone, the Tennessee Department of Safety reported over 200,000 traffic crashes statewide.

Crashes like these can happen for various reasons, including driver distractions, poor weather conditions, and unexpected roadway hazards. Here are some of the most frequent causes of multi-vehicle accidents:

  • Distracted Driving: Texting, talking on the phone, or even adjusting the radio can take a driver's attention off the road, increasing the risk of collisions.
  • Speeding: Driving above the speed limit reduces reaction time and makes it harder to stop or maneuver in emergencies.
  • Poor Weather Conditions: Rain, fog, and icy roads can create dangerous driving conditions, leading to multi-car pileups.
  • Tailgating: Following too closely behind another vehicle reduces stopping distance and can lead to chain-reaction crashes.
  • Drowsy Driving: Fatigued drivers are more likely to make errors or even fall asleep at the wheel, contributing to serious accidents.
