Knox County, TN (October 2, 2025) – A semi-truck caused a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Knox County on Tuesday afternoon, September 30, resulting in several injuries. 

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the crash occurred when the semi-truck was following an SUV in front of it too closely in congested traffic. At around 2:37 p.m., the truck struck the back of the SUV, pushing it into the vehicle ahead. The semi-truck then collided with two additional cars before finally stopping and blocking multiple lanes of the interstate.

At the time of the crash, traffic had slowed due to congestion, and all vehicles, except the semi-truck, were stopped. The drivers of the SUV and the other involved vehicles sustained injuries, and authorities confirmed that several passengers, including at least two children, were injured. The driver of the semi-truck was unharmed in the incident.

Following the crash, the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) closed all northbound lanes of I-75. Traffic was diverted at Exit 110 onto Callahan Drive, causing significant delays in the area. 

The investigation into this multi-vehicle crash remains ongoing by local police.
