Knoxville, TN (October 22, 2025) – A 10-year-old girl suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car Monday evening, October 21, in Knoxville.

According to the Knoxville Police Department (KPD), the crash happened just after 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of East Magnolia Avenue and Olive Street. Officers arrived to find the young girl injured near a Kia sedan that had stopped at the scene. Emergency responders provided immediate medical care before transporting her to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators said the child was attempting to cross the road when the collision occurred. The driver remained on the scene and cooperated fully with law enforcement. No citations or arrests have been reported as of Tuesday morning.

KPD continues to investigate the incident as part of its broader efforts to improve traffic safety. The crash highlights growing concerns about pedestrian safety in the city, which ranks among the top in the nation for dangerous driving, according to a recent Consumer Affairs study.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the young girl and her family as she recovers.

Pedestrian Accidents in Knoxville

10-Year-Old Girl Seriously Injured After Being Hit by Car on E Magnolia Ave & Olive St

Pedestrian accidents are a major concern in Knoxville, where high traffic volumes and limited crosswalk access contribute to frequent collisions. When a vehicle strikes a pedestrian, even at moderate speeds, the results can be severe—especially when children are involved.

Across Tennessee, hundreds of pedestrians are injured every year in traffic incidents. Many of these accidents occur near intersections, parking lots, or areas with inadequate lighting. Contributing factors often include distracted driving, speeding, and failure to yield the right of way.

Victims of pedestrian accidents often face long recovery times, costly medical bills, and emotional trauma. Families may struggle to manage expenses related to hospitalization, rehabilitation, and lost time from work while caring for their loved ones.

When a pedestrian is injured by a driver, the victim or their family may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim. Compensation can help cover medical expenses, future treatment, lost wages, and pain and suffering. In serious cases involving children, settlements may also include funds for long-term care and counseling.

An experienced Knoxville pedestrian accident attorney can investigate the accident, gather evidence such as surveillance footage and witness statements, and negotiate with insurance companies on behalf of the victim. Having skilled legal guidance ensures that families understand their rights and receive fair compensation.
