Knoxville, TN – 2 Critically Injured in Crash Involving Police Vehicle at Kingston Pike & Northshore Dr

Posted by Local Accidents | Dec 22, 2025 | 0 Comments

Knoxville, TN (December 22, 2025) – A serious multi-vehicle crash left two people critically injured on Sunday, December 21, at a busy Knoxville intersection. The collision occurred around 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Kingston Pike and Northshore Drive and involved a Knoxville Police Department officer, according to officials.

The Knoxville Police Department reported that the crash involved a police vehicle and two other vehicles. Two occupants inside one of the civilian vehicles suffered critical injuries. Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported both injured individuals to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Officials confirmed that the police officer involved in the crash was not responding to a call at the time of the collision and was not using emergency lights or sirens. The officer also sustained injuries and received transport to a local hospital. Authorities described the officer's injuries as non-life-threatening.

Due to the seriousness of the crash and the involvement of a police vehicle, the Knoxville Police Department requested assistance from the Tennessee Highway Patrol. THP assumed responsibility for leading the investigation to ensure an independent review of the incident.

First responders secured the intersection and worked to assist victims, assess damage, and gather evidence.

Police have not released details about what caused the collision or whether any citations may follow. Law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this serious crash.

We hope those critically injured receive the care they need and make a full recovery.

2 Critically Injured in Crash Involving Police Vehicle at Kingston Pike & Northshore Dr

Car accidents frequently occur at large intersections, where traffic volume remains high throughout the day and evening. These locations require drivers to make quick decisions while managing turning traffic, changing signals, and multiple lanes of travel.

When crashes happen at major intersections, the risk of severe injury increases. High speeds and multiple points of impact can lead to serious trauma for vehicle occupants. Victims often require emergency treatment, hospitalization, and extended recovery time.

People injured in intersection crashes may suffer a wide range of injuries, including:

  • Head injuries or traumatic brain injuries caused by sudden impact
  • Chest and abdominal injuries from seatbelt force or steering wheel contact
  • Broken bones in the arms, legs, or ribs
  • Neck and back injuries that affect movement and daily activities
  • Internal injuries that require close medical monitoring

In addition to physical harm, many crash victims face emotional and financial stress. Time away from work, medical appointments, and uncertainty about recovery can quickly become overwhelming. Some injuries may not fully appear until hours or days after the crash, which makes follow-up medical care essential.

Understanding legal options can help injured individuals protect their rights after a serious collision. An experienced Knoxville car accident attorney can explain how investigations work, review official reports, and help injured parties understand what steps may follow. Each case depends on the specific facts, including driver actions and roadway conditions.
