Knoxville, TN – Apartment Fire Leaves 3 Injured on Greenbrier Ridge Way

Posted by Local Accidents | Dec 16, 2025 | 0 Comments

Knoxville, TN (December 16, 2025) – A large apartment fire in Knoxville displaced multiple residents and sent three people to the hospital on Sunday, December 14, according to the Knoxville Fire Department.

The fire broke out around 6:30 p.m. at an apartment building located on Greenbrier Ridge Way. Fire crews rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a working fire inside the building.

According to Knoxville Fire Department spokesperson Timothy Woods, the fire spread quickly through the structure. Several residents were forced to take extreme measures to escape. Officials confirmed that some occupants jumped from third-floor units to avoid the smoke and flames.

Firefighters worked aggressively to bring the fire under control, which they achieved by approximately 7:45 p.m. Despite their efforts, more than half of the building sustained severe damage. Officials determined that ten apartment units were uninhabitable following the fire.

Three residents required medical treatment and were transported to a local hospital. Authorities did not immediately release details about the severity of their injuries. In total, fifteen people were displaced by the fire.

The Knoxville Fire Department remained on scene to investigate the cause of the fire and ensure the area was safe. Officials have not yet released information regarding what sparked the blaze.

Our thoughts are with the residents affected by this fire, and we wish those injured a full and steady recovery.

Apartment Fire Leaves 3 Injured on Greenbrier Ridge Way

Apartment fires often raise serious concerns about building safety, maintenance, and emergency preparedness. When residents suffer injuries or lose their homes, questions may arise about whether property owners followed proper safety standards. Issues involving premise liability may come into play when unsafe conditions contribute to injuries or displacement.

Fires in multi-unit buildings can cause a wide range of injuries, even for those who escape quickly. Smoke inhalation, burns, broken bones, and emotional trauma often affect victims long after the flames go out. Residents may also face sudden housing loss and financial stress while trying to recover.

In situations like this, injured residents may be entitled to compensation depending on the circumstances. Possible compensation may include:

  • Medical expenses: This may cover emergency treatment, hospital care, medication, and follow-up visits.
  • Future medical care: Some injuries require ongoing treatment, therapy, or long-term monitoring.
  • Temporary housing costs: Displaced residents may need reimbursement for hotels or alternative living arrangements.
  • Lost wages: Injuries or displacement can force people to miss work during recovery.
  • Pain and suffering: Compensation may account for physical pain, emotional distress, and trauma caused by the fire.
  • Property damage: Victims may recover losses related to damaged or destroyed personal belongings.

Understanding these rights can feel overwhelming after a traumatic event. Speaking with an experienced Knoxville personal injury attorney can help injured residents understand their options and protect their interests while they focus on recovery.
