Knoxville, TN (December 25, 2025) – One person was injured on Wednesday evening, December 24, after a house fire broke out at a residence in South Knoxville.
According to the Knoxville Fire Department, fire crews were dispatched just after 7:00 p.m. to the 100 block of Keeble Avenue following reports of a residential fire. A 911 caller reported that the upstairs portion of the home was on fire and that multiple people were still inside while efforts were underway to get everyone out safely. Authorities did not release details regarding the severity of the injuries at the time of transport.
Officials reported that seven adults and four children were inside the home when the fire occurred. The residence sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants, and firefighters were able to salvage some of the children's Christmas presents from the home.
Knoxville Fire Department investigators remain at work to determine the cause of the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
We wish the injured individual and all those affected a full and speedy recovery.
House Fires and Injuries in East Tennessee
House fires pose serious dangers to residents, particularly during evening hours when families are often home. Injuries commonly result from smoke inhalation, burns, falls during evacuation, or exposure to extreme heat. In some cases, individuals become trapped and require rescue, increasing the risk of serious harm.
Smoke inhalation injuries may lead to respiratory complications, including lung damage or oxygen deprivation, while burns and traumatic injuries can require emergency care, hospitalization, surgeries, and long-term rehabilitation. Beyond physical injuries, house fires often cause significant emotional distress, anxiety, and displacement, especially when families lose their homes, personal belongings, or sense of security.
Electrical issues, heating equipment malfunctions, cooking accidents, or other hazardous conditions may cause residential fires. When negligence, unsafe property conditions, or faulty equipment contribute to a fire, individuals who are injured may have legal options under Tennessee personal injury and premises liability laws.
Insurance companies often begin investigations immediately following a fire. Having legal guidance can help injured residents understand their rights and pursue compensation for medical expenses, temporary housing, and other damages.
