Knoxville, TN (October 10, 2025) – A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck in a hit-and-run crash on Wednesday night, October 8,  near the intersection of Heiskell Avenue and Minnesota Avenue in Knoxville.

According to the Knoxville Police Department, officers responded to the scene just before 9 p.m. after reports of a speeding vehicle hitting a man crossing Minnesota Avenue. The 37-year-old victim sustained a traumatic head injury and was rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.

Police said the driver fled the scene after the collision. Through surveillance footage and license-plate reader (LPR) cameras, investigators identified the suspect as 19-year-old Antwane Hartsell. Officers later located him with the assistance of the Oak Ridge Police Department. The suspect's vehicle showed visible damage consistent with the crash.

Hartsell was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an accident. The investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
