Serious Crash with Injuries at Dutch Valley Dr & Bruhin Rd

Car accidents happen quickly, and victims are often left shaken and unsure of what to do next. Taking the right steps after a crash can protect your health, your rights, and your ability to recover compensation.

Here are some of the most important actions to take after a collision in Knoxville:

  • Seek medical attention immediately – Even if injuries seem minor, it's critical to get checked by a doctor. Some injuries, like concussions or internal trauma, may not show symptoms right away. Medical records also provide key documentation for personal injury claims.
  • Call law enforcement – Always report the crash to the police. Officers create an official accident report that can help determine fault and strengthen your case.
  • Collect evidence at the scene – If it's safe, take photos of the vehicles, injuries, road conditions, and anything else that might be important. Gather names and contact details of witnesses who saw what happened.
  • Exchange information – Share contact and insurance details with the other driver. Keep conversations brief and avoid admitting fault, as this can harm your case later.
  • Notify your insurance company – Report the accident as soon as possible. However, avoid giving recorded statements without first consulting an attorney, as insurers may use your words to reduce your claim.
  • Contact an experienced car accident lawyer – Having a skilled Knoxville car accident attorney on your side is one of the most important steps you can take. A lawyer can investigate the crash, deal with insurance companies, and fight to secure compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
