Knoxville, TN (September 2, 2025) – A woman from Jefferson City lost her life Monday night, September 1, in a tragic multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 40.

According to the Knoxville Police Department, the crash happened around 8:00 p.m. on I-40 West near the Papermill Drive exit. 

Investigators said 50-year-old Laura Vinot was driving a Chevy minivan when she attempted to change lanes. During the maneuver, her vehicle collided with another car, causing the minivan to skid off the roadway. The vehicle rolled over, ejecting Vinot.

Emergency crews transported Vinot to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the other vehicle was not reported to have serious injuries. 

The Knoxville Police Department confirmed the investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
