Lebanon, TN (November 10, 2025) – A tragic helicopter crash in Middle Tennessee claimed the life of a flight nurse and left two other crew members seriously injured over the weekend.
According to officials, the Vanderbilt LifeFlight medical helicopter went down on Saturday, November 8, in the 7100 block of Cairo Bend Road in Lebanon, roughly 30 miles east of Nashville. Emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the crash, which involved no patients aboard at the time.
Vanderbilt LifeFlight identified the deceased as Alan Williams, a registered nurse, flight nurse, and paramedic. The company also confirmed that Andrew “Andy” Sikes, a critical care flight paramedic, was among the two crew members hospitalized at Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries. The pilot's name has not been released at the family's request.
“Our hearts and deepest sympathies are with our Vanderbilt LifeFlight colleagues, their families and loved ones during this difficult time,” Vanderbilt LifeFlight said in a statement.
The Wilson County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are leading the investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
Authorities continue to review what may have led to this heartbreaking incident.

Aviation crashes, such as this helicopter accident in Middle Tennessee, can lead to catastrophic injuries and tragic loss of life. While these accidents are rare, when they occur, the impact on victims and their families is devastating. Complex mechanical systems, pilot error, and environmental factors can all contribute to aviation disasters, making investigations lengthy and detailed.
Victims and families affected by wrongful death or personal injury due to aviation accidents may be entitled to compensation. Injuries from crashes like these are often severe and life-altering, including:

Families who lose loved ones in aviation or commercial vehicle crashes can pursue wrongful death claims to recover funeral expenses, medical costs, loss of income, and emotional suffering.
