Clarksville, TN - Wrong-Way Crash on Dover Rd Leaves 1 Dead, 6 Hurt

Posted by Local Accidents | Dec 07, 2025 | 0 Comments

Clarksville, TN (December 7, 2025) - A fatal multi-vehicle collision occurred on Friday, December 5, at the intersection of Dover Road and North Liberty Church Road in Clarksville, Montgomery County. Reports from authorities indicate that a driver traveling the wrong way entered the intersection and struck multiple vehicles, resulting in one death and injuries to six other people, including an infant and several teenagers. Emergency crews and law enforcement were dispatched to the scene shortly before 5:15 p.m. after receiving calls about the crash and the serious injuries involved.

According to information released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a Honda Fit was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of Dover Road as it approached the North Liberty Church Road intersection. At that location, several vehicles were stopped at the red light, including a Chevrolet Malibu, a Nissan Kicks, and a Nissan Versa. Investigators stated that the wrong-way Honda failed to stop for the traffic signal, sideswiped the Chevrolet, and then struck both Nissan vehicles before coming to rest within the intersection area. First responders arrived quickly, secured the roadway, and began providing medical care to the people involved.

Authorities confirmed that the wrong-way driver sustained critical injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead either at the scene or shortly after medical aid was initiated. The driver's identity has not been included here in keeping with reporting standards. The remaining injured individuals were occupants of the Nissan vehicles. Reports indicate that all four people inside the Nissan Kicks were hurt, as well as the driver of the Nissan Versa and a baby girl who was less than a year old. Officials have not released updated information on their conditions.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to investigate the events leading up to the collision. At this stage, officials have not disclosed why the Honda Fit was traveling in the wrong direction or how long the vehicle had been moving against traffic prior to the impact. Further updates may be provided as investigators complete their review of the crash scene, witness statements, and any additional evidence.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones grieving this loss.

Multi-Vehicle and Wrong-Way Crashes in Tennessee

Multi-vehicle collisions remain a significant roadway safety issue across Tennessee, particularly on busy county roads and intersections where traffic volume can rise sharply during afternoon and evening hours. When several vehicles are involved in a single crash, the risk of severe injury increases because multiple impacts may occur in quick succession. Intersections are especially dangerous points of conflict, as vehicles moving through at different speeds and directions must rely on traffic signals and driver attention to prevent high-force collisions.

Wrong-Way Crash on Dover Rd Leaves 1 Dead, 6 Hurt

Wrong-way crashes, while less common than other collision types, are often among the most deadly. These incidents can happen when a driver enters a roadway in the incorrect direction or crosses the center line, creating a direct hazard for oncoming traffic. Factors that contribute to wrong-way driving can include driver impairment, fatigue, confusion in low-visibility conditions, distraction, or medical emergencies.

Since drivers do not expect traffic moving toward them in the same lane, reaction time may be limited, and impacts frequently occur at higher combined speeds. Injuries in these crashes often include traumatic brain injuries, spinal trauma, internal organ damage, fractures, and other life-threatening harm. In multi-vehicle scenarios, additional victims may suffer secondary impacts, increasing the likelihood of long-term disability and extensive medical treatment.

When a fatal or injury crash is caused by negligence, Tennessee law may allow victims or surviving family members to pursue a claim for compensation. Such claims are intended to address the financial and personal losses that follow serious collisions. Depending on the circumstances, recoverable damages may include:

  • Medical expenses related to emergency care, hospitalization, surgery, rehabilitation, and follow-up treatment
  • Future medical costs for ongoing therapy, long-term care, or assistive needs
  • Lost wages during recovery and loss of future earning capacity when injuries limit employment
  • Funeral and burial expenses in fatal cases
  • Pain and suffering and the physical limitations caused by the injuries
  • Loss of companionship, support, and household services experienced by close family members
  • Property damage and other financial losses linked to the collision

Insurance companies often begin evaluating multi-vehicle crashes immediately, sometimes reaching out to victims or families before the full scope of injuries and long-term costs is known. In complex collisions involving multiple cars and a fatality, responsibility can be contested, and early settlement efforts may not reflect the complete impact of the crash. A careful review of the evidence and damages can help ensure that any claim accurately accounts for medical needs, future losses, and the effects on those injured or grieving.
